Product Description 3342213 South Shore Mate's Bed, Logik, Contemporary, Sunny Pine. This fashionably functional twin-size mate's bed with 2 spacious drawers for maximum storage is definitely a smart addition to this 6-piece bedroom collection. Forms a complete bed with even more storage space when combined with the bookcase headboard.

Decent quality for the (cheap) price September 7, 2010 Tonya Doughty (Central Washington state) Decent quality for the (cheap) price. First one took about 2 1/2 hours to build, second one about 1 1/2. Both beds had two pieces that were supposed to be pre-drilled but were not, which slowed it down considerably. We also will need to improvise a bit and attach the boards that go beneath the mattress to the frame as they come up and slap back down when getting out of the bed. A screw or nail at top and bottom will remedy that and should be included in the directions.
Twin mates bed September 6, 2010 Lisa T. Williams (Cape Coral, Florida) This is a great product for the price. It was easy to assemble and looks good as well as being a sturdy piece of furnature.
Great deals can be found after all!! August 4, 2010 Sofia Hernandez (Woodside, NY) I researched for quite a bit of time because of the negative reviews on this site and competitors and decided that the good would far outweigh the bad. Well surprise... surprise... they are GREAT! Having 3 young children I have found out the hard way that buying them expensive furniture/bedding etc., just isn't reasonable nor affordable. That is what originally piqued my interest in the South Shore Furniture line; the low price! I was excited to see that they were available through Amazon Prime and slowly realized, this is a good deal because of the free shipping. Let's start off with shipment time: It isn't Prime standards but it does come rather quickly, at least quicker than the estimated delivery by arriving 3 days early. Others before me have stated the awkward/heavy box situation.... they are not LYING! Since Fed Ex was so polite in shipping nice and early (not) my husband was not there for the delivery. They dropped it off at the front door and went on their merry way. I live on the 2nd floor and discovered what I had gotten myself into shortly thereafter. You can only imagine my surprise when I saw these nearly 8 foot tall boxes weighing 112 lbs each. It was a sight.... me (as a female) trying to slowly pull them into the hallway without buckling them or breaking my back! Please plan on having two strong people available for delivery! Now onto the actual building time. The directions were in wonderful plain understandable English. We discovered that South Shore Furniture is located in Canada. Another great surprise was the fact that there is a 5 year warranty on each bed! Each bed's pieces were labeled on the side (no annoying stickers WOOHOO)where you can see the compressed boards. The finish is a nice matte and we were happy to not see any damage. The company takes great care in packing it wonderfully to the point where it became a nuisance to unpack. I am hoping that this signifies that they have responded to and rectified the transport issues (damage) that I have previously read about from other "disatisfied" customers. The ends of the bed where your head and feet go are rounded corners, but not the sides. I don't see this as an issue because I am used to Ikea beds and those are truly dangerous. These are fine but if you jump and fall, then you will possibly get scraped. Typical wood scenario... try to teach the little ones to not jump. Putting together took quite a bit of time because of the organization that it consumes at the very beginning. I would say about 2.5-3 hrs, but by the second bed my husband no longer needed the instructions and built it rather quickly. The company states to not use a power drill... we attempted at first but it just became unbearable because there really are that many parts. As others have also mentioned, many inside pieces that will never be seen are the cacao color or black. I was glad to see an insert from the company explaining why they chose to do this and how this is "green". That pleased me immensely!! Highly recommend for those that are looking for the most bang out of their buck! Once put together they are beautiful and solid. The drawers are only half the width of the bed, so I can see how this would be an issue to some that were planning to use them as dressers. We are going for storage or maybe their linens. I don't find the bottom of the drawers to be too thin; it is typical RTA(ready 2 assemble) furniture and without much weight they should slide fine. I find the handles rather cheesy looking but am happy that we were given the option of the clear or red handles. I ended up just leaving the clear handles because they actually complement the bed and are understated! Planning to buy another one in a few weeks for our 4 year old son. Currently have a nearly 8 and 6 year old on them. I do not see an issue with an adult sleeping on it, but I can understand the apprehension because the board seems rather thin. Rest assured... it holds! Beautiful and blends in wonderfully with other white furniture. Even Ikea can't beat this deal! We have them on hard wood floors and find that we can easily move them around without lifting and there are no scratches. I am assuming that carpeted floors will make this a one type plop mission where the bed will "stay".
OK bed, but edges are too sharp July 30, 2010 Eliana Romero (bluegenez) I was able to put the bed together mostly by myself and very much liked how well everything was labelled. It looks very similar to the pictures, but I have two complaints. First of all, the bed sits quite a bit higher than the picture lets on, which was disappointing. Second, the edges of the box the bed sits in are very sharp and we had to use the rail protectors from our daughter's crib because we worried that she would scratch her legs getting up and down.
Great bed for a young kid July 5, 2010 Natalie R. (Iowa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this to replace a toddler bed for my three-year-old (along with the matching headboard). I am happy with the product overall - the only criticism I have is that the drawer bottoms are a thin, almost cardboard-like material instead of the thicker board like the rest of the bed, and I don't see that holding up to kids for very long. One of the long, thin boards that run above and below the drawers was broken in half when it arrived (more than likely from shipping, though the packing seems like it should have been adequate). We called for a replacement and received it quickly, no questions asked. Luckily it was not a support piece, so we were able to assemble the rest of the bed and use it in the meantime. The manufacturer definitely makes an effort to prevent damage with lots and lots of support and packing material. One thing to note is that when you open the package, you may notice some pieces that are not the right color. I was alarmed by this at first, but in with the instructions you will find a note that explains that some non-visible pieces of the bed may arrive in a different color, in order to save money and resources. I actually think that it's a great idea (why waste pieces that don't "match" if they can't even be seen?) but it can be a litle unnerving when you first see it.
